"Stone Vibes: The Rolling Stones Re-Imagined" is the title of a special concert to be presented by the Tom Collier Quartet to raise money for the West Seattle High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund! All are welcome to come to enjoy the great tunes and support this worthy cause. The show will feature unique jazz arrangements of well-known (and a couple of not-so-well-known) compositions written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones' 60+ year song catalog.
The Quartet features West Seattle 1966 Hall-Of-Fame alum Tom Collier playing vibraphone (or vibes), guitarist John Hanford (from The Wailers and Monster Road bands), famed drummer Ben Smith (Heart, Taj Mahal, and so many more), and WSHS Class of 1971 electric bassist Dan Dean.
Tickets for this show are $20 for all - with all proceeds (minus minimal expenses) going directly to the scholarship fund.
Email kenyon@kenyonhall.org to request seats! You will receive an email response with confirmation.
*For these performances, for the protection of all our patrons, artists, staff members and volunteers, masks will be required and patrons ages 6 and over will be asked to show proof of vaccination for COVID 19 in order to purchase tickets.
Tom Collier (vibes) and Marc Seales (piano) perform arrangements of jazz standards and original compositions as part of the 2021 Kenyon Hall Concert Streaming Series.
Beginning this Friday October 1st, I’ll be a member of the Jerry Frank Trio for the first time in more than 50 years. This past July, Jerry, Dan Dean, and I reunited a half century after our last “gig” and recorded a video concert at West Seattle’s Kenyon Hall as part of their upcoming October streamed concert series. Instead of playing vibes or marimba however, I hauled out my 53 year-old Rogers drum set and used sticks instead of mallets to make music. I had a blast playing drums for the first time in several years and I might be persuaded to do it again sooner than later. If you can’t “tune-in” this Friday at 7pm, the concert video will be available thereafter on the Kenyon Hall site so you can watch it at your leisure – again and again…
See home page for statement on future performances in 2020.
Vibraphonist Tom Collier and pianist Marc Seales open the 7:30 show with a mix of jazz styles - original compositions and jazz standards. Vocalist Valerie Rosa will join the duo for a second set of unique soul/R&B/jazz arrangements of songs by Buddy Johnson, Stevie Wonder and Burt Bacharach. Admission at the door is $20; $15 advance. Visit the Royal Room website or call 206-906-9920 for reservations. All ages welcomed!
